A fun story that really captures the essence of being a ragtag group of misfits into the paranormal The characters are all memorable, and they re interactions and banter are well written Most of the humor is juvenile, and though I over that kind of humor, it s sometimes a little much That aside, this was an interesting and quick read, and it should make a great film.

    2. Kate T. says:
3.5 starsOverall, it was an okay book It honestly isn t in my genre of choice, but I gave it a shot The characters were interesting but I feel as though there is a lot of backstory missing Will there be a second book

    3. Andrew Smith says:

Full disclosure I received this book as a giveaway in exchange for an honest review I seriously hope this book has yet to undergo final editing, b c it needs it desperately Overall, the story line itself is acceptable, particularly as a YA piece Probably the publishers were trying to avoid this encapsulation, but it might be summarized as a ghostbusters for young teen boys Mostly 11 13 year old males is who I see enjoying this book So, a group of kids are thrown together in school for a project [...]

FTC Disclosure I received this book free from hoping I would review it.

    6. Ben says:
Strange Times The Ghost in The Girl chronicles the formation of the Strange Times crew a group of 8th graders who started off working on a science project for school and ended up becoming a bad ass supernatural fighting squad For me, the characters Charlie, an ex jock loner who narrates the story, Wiz, a nerd, Mouse and Matheson, two skater punks and Riley, the over weight new guy are what really make this story Their dialogue is hilarious and the relationships they develop throughout the book a [...]

I received this book as part of a giveaway. While admittedly I am not the target audience for this book, I had a couple of problems with it For a book aimed at younger readers, I was bothered by the language used by the characters throughout the book I realize that many would say that the language is realistic, that eighth grade boys use that kind of language, and I concede that point, however, it doesn t help that they are encouraged by television, movies, and books aimed at that target audience [...]

So, I won this book for free on in a giveaway The short and to the point review is right below So, this story just did not click with me I didn t finish it either, got to pg 50 and just decided that I was not going to continue it To me, the characters were boring and for a prequel novel thats only 270 pgs long, there just wasn t enough character development into the origins of the characters in the short time that the novel gives it.Therefore, if you were a fan of the first book, you ll like it [...]

    9. Boyd says:
The book has a good story and fills in how this group formed and why.The story is a little rough in the very beginning and made me wonder if it was going to be a rough read. But once I got to chapter 3 it started to take off and once it gets going it turns into a very good read. The story and the take on the paranormal and ghost s is kind of different but in a good way and makes you want to know where it is all going.About the only thing I think the Author could have changed is to maybe cut back o [...]

    10. Michael says:
Strange Times is a fun and quick read directed at a young teen audience At times the writing suffers, and can even be confusing or redundant, but the overall story is entertaining and worth a read The premise is simple a group of middle school boys form a Scooby doo esque crew and there is just enough charm and heart to leave the reader excited about what adventure they will have next as the book comes to a conclusion.

    11. Ashley Ferus says:
I thought this book was entertaining It was funny, a bit juvenile, but it s the portrayal of 8th grade boys, so it s suppose to be The story is told as if you were sitting down with someone and they are telling you an epic story of an event that happened to them Because of this or maybe because of the graphic novel, which I haven t read I feel like the book lacks details You know that characters are fat, skinny, young or old but that is pretty much all you get Even the places that the book takes [...]

    12. Cheryl says:
Received a ARC book from for an honest review I did not like this book and did not finish due to I could not get by the swear words for this age group Is this needed to tell the story Book needs to be rewritten with appropriate language I would not recommend this book.

    13. Ashley Kidwell says:
From a science project to a crazy supernatural adventure This is a fun read Great book for young adults.
